Teeth
are like machines. They are durable and very precise. Look at the animal
world. A lion's teeth, like most carnivores, are designed to slice meat
like scissors. Horse and sheep molars work like mortars to mill fibrous
hard grasses. Mice and beavers have teeth that act as chisels to carve
wood and concrete. The human diet requires a variety of different types
of teeth that operate in unison with the jaw and a group of masticate
muscles to grind food. The front teeth are like power shovels. The canines
are cutters. The bicuspids are pressure molars which act as road rollers.
The tongue can be compared to a concrete mixer. There are no spare parts.
Once a tooth is gone, it is not replaced.
